Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the print mediums you offer?
Matted images are a printed photograph set in a mat board border, ready for a standard frame. It's the simplest and most affordable way to bring a piece home. Canvas and boxed canvas are printed and stretched over a frame, ready to hang, with boxed canvas having a deeper, chunkier profile. Metal and acrylic both give a sleek, contemporary, high-gloss finish that really brings out the reef's colours. Framed prints come finished and ready to hang in a frame of your choosing. Marine timber prints are finished on a timber panel for a more textured, coastal look. If you're not sure which is right for your space, tell us a bit about the room and we'll talk you through it.
How does made-to-order sizing work?
Rather than choosing from a small set of fixed sizes, most of our prints are made to the size that suits your exact wall or space. When you enquire, tell us roughly where it's going (or send a photo of the wall) and we'll help you land on the right size, then confirm the price for that size and medium before we begin. Matted images are the exception: they come in a set range of sizes, priced from $35.
How long will my print take to arrive?
Because every piece is made to order, turnaround genuinely varies, anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on the size, medium, current workload and where it's being shipped to. We'll give you a clear timeframe when we confirm your order.
Do you deliver Australia-wide?
Yes. Delivery is free on orders over $150. For orders under that amount, we'll confirm the delivery cost when we confirm your order.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, by enquiry. International delivery cost and timeframe depend on your location, so get in touch and we'll work it out with you.
How does the enquiry-to-order process actually work?
It starts with a simple enquiry through the form, phone or email. Tell us the image (or images) you're interested in, the medium, and roughly the size or space you're printing for. We'll get back to you personally to talk it through, confirm the size, medium and price, and once you're happy we'll get your piece into production. We'll keep you posted along the way. Payment is arranged directly with you once your order's confirmed.
Can I request a custom size that's not listed?
Yes. Outside of the set sizes for matted images, almost everything we make is a custom size by default. Tell us the size you need and we'll quote it for you.
Can I request a specific image that isn't in the galleries, or a different crop of one that is?
Often, yes. The galleries show a curated selection, but we may have other shots from the same location or trip, and we're usually able to offer a different crop or orientation of an image to suit your space. Just ask us; the worst we can say is no.
Can I buy directly online?
Not at the moment. There's no online checkout on this site by design, since every piece is made to order and the size, medium and price are worked out together with you. An enquiry takes just a couple of minutes and gets you a real answer from a real person, not an automated cart.
Where can I see the prints in person?
At the Airlie Beach Cruise Ship Markets on the foreshore, whenever a cruise ship's in port. It's a great way to see the mediums and finishes up close before you decide. Check the markets' schedule for the next date, or get in touch and we'll let you know when we'll next be there.
What if I'm not happy with my print?
Because every piece is made to order specifically for you, we're not able to offer change-of-mind returns. If anything arrives faulty or damaged in transit though, get in touch straightaway and we'll sort it out. See our Delivery & Returns page for the full detail.
